Call forwarding & voicemail
Let Zinley answer missed calls to your existing number. Set up forwarding with your carrier, then check the result in History.
1. Open forwarding
On desktop or mobile, open Settings → your agent’s name → Forward calls to your agent. You need an active private line with calling service. If none appears, get or manage a number first.
Check the destination number. Choose Verify your phone number for the number you will forward from. People calling you do not need to verify their numbers.
2. Choose your carrier and rule
Select your country and carrier. The current setup offers United States and Canada; available rules depend on your carrier and destination.
- When I don’t answer: your phone rings first; Zinley answers if you miss it.
- All calls: every call forwards; your phone will not ring until forwarding is turned off.
- More options: some carriers also offer busy, unreachable, or a longer ring delay.
If no setup code appears, use Set up with your carrier. Check your carrier’s current instructions, availability and charges before activating.
3. Activate on your phone and test
Open the Phone keypad on the phone you are forwarding, enter the setup code shown in your own account, and press Call. Wait for the carrier’s confirmation.
Copying a code does not enable forwarding. The demo uses a fictional number: never dial a code from the demo. On iPhone, enter the code manually instead of relying on a forwarding link.
Call your existing number from another phone. For missed-call forwarding, let it ring without answering. Confirm Zinley answers, leave a test message, then check History → Calls for the summary and any available recording.
Turn forwarding off
Return to the same carrier and rule, expand Turn off forwarding, and enter that code in the same phone’s keypad. Press Call, wait for carrier confirmation, and test again.
Uninstalling Zinley or releasing its private line does not cancel a carrier rule. Turn forwarding off before releasing the destination line.
Still going to voicemail?
Check the destination line is active and the carrier accepted the intended rule. On iPhone, Live Voicemail may answer before forwarding; review its setting and your carrier’s voicemail instructions. If the carrier rejects a code, contact the carrier rather than trying another carrier’s code.
If forwarding succeeds but Zinley does not answer, contact support with the carrier, rule, app version, test time and timezone, and what the caller heard. Do not post private call recordings publicly.
What callers can access
Forwarding lets your agent take a message. It does not give callers access to your email, calendar or files. Review Representative rules and trusted or blocked callers separately.
