Set up Health on your phone and desktop
Connect the phone that holds your health data, tell Zinley what matters, and check that the first sync belongs to the right person. You choose which data the phone shares.
Connect an iPhone or Android phone
- Open Zinley on the phone and sign in to the account you use on desktop.
- Open Action Center → Health and start the introduction, or open Settings → Health under Connections.
- Choose Connect Apple Health on iPhone or Connect Health Connect on Android.
- In the system permission screen, select the categories you want to allow. Availability depends on the phone, operating system, connected wearable, and data already recorded.
- When asked whose Health is on the phone, choose yourself or the correct family member. Do not label someone else's measurements as yours.
- Return to Zinley and let the initial sync finish. Check the person's name, source, and last update in People and phones.
On Android, follow Install Health Connect if the app says it is needed, then return and connect again. An unsupported-device message means this phone cannot provide that source; it does not prevent you from using manual logs or reading another connected phone's data.
Start from desktop
Open Action Center → Health → Set up Health. The connection step explains how to open Health settings on your phone. Use the QR code when shown, then allow access on the phone itself. A desktop can show connection status and remove shared data, but cannot grant a phone's health permissions.
If you do not have a phone to connect now, continue setup and use More → Log something. Add measurements you actually have, such as weight or blood pressure. Do not invent values to complete setup.
Answer the setup questions
| Step | What to enter or choose |
|---|---|
| Tell me about you | Relevant conditions, medicines already prescribed, allergies, doctor, and emergency contact; optional fields can be skipped |
| What matters to you | Focus areas and concerns in your own words; up to five concerns |
| Your day / When should I plan your day? | Morning time, available evening options, language, and reading preferences |
| If it's serious, may I call you? | Whether urgent alerts may lead to a call; check your number and the separate emergency-contact choice |
| Finish | Wait for the first read when offered, then open your day |
Check prefilled answers before continuing. Use an international country code for a phone number if the app cannot identify its country. Adding a contact to the Health card does not, by itself, authorize texts to that contact.
You can revisit these choices in Settings → Health. Advanced settings → Health card holds your background information. People and phones lets you review whose data each phone shares. Setup labels can differ slightly between desktop and mobile.
Allow more categories later
- On the phone, open Settings → Health → Advanced settings → Share more with Zinley. You may also find Share more from the Health tab or People and phones.
- Review the missing categories and the explanation beside each one.
- Choose Choose in Apple Health or Choose in Health Connect when offered, then select what to allow in the system screen.
- If the screen says access was already requested, use Open the Health app or Open Health Connect and change access there.
- Return to Zinley and check the next sync. A permission can be on even when no measurement has been recorded yet.
On iPhone, open the Health app, your profile, Apps, then Zinley to review access. On Android, open Health Connect → App permissions → Zinley. The system uses the app name Zinley, even if you have renamed your agent.
Cycle tracking has its own switch in Health's advanced settings on the phone. It is separate from the general Share more list. Turn it off there if you do not want new cycle data shared.
Check a missing or stale reading
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| No phone connected | Finish permission setup on the phone, then confirm the same account is signed in on desktop |
| Connected, but a metric is missing | Check that the source app has recorded it and that Zinley has access to that category |
| Asked before, nothing yet on iPhone | Review Apple Health access; the app cannot distinguish every denied read permission from a category with no data |
| Old last-sync time | Open Zinley on the phone, connect to the internet, and check any background-access message |
| Waiting for new numbers | Let the phone sync before requesting or interpreting a new read |
| A setting says it needs an update | Update the app and retry; do not assume the control saved |
If the issue remains, report a bug with your phone model, OS and app versions, the source app, category affected, last-sync time, and the exact error. Hide health values and personal details from screenshots unless they are necessary to explain the issue.
