Action Button, Siri, and car voice
Open a conversation with your agent quickly from a supported iPhone shortcut or compatible car setup. Set it up and try it while stationary, with the phone unlocked and Zinley signed in.
Put Call Zinley on the Action Button
On supported iPhones, open Settings → This device → Action Button inside Zinley for the guide. The actual button assignment happens in Apple's Settings app.
- Open the iPhone Settings app and choose Action Button.
- Swipe to Shortcut, then tap Choose a Shortcut.
- Under Zinley, choose Call Zinley.
- Press and hold the physical Action Button to open the call.
- Allow microphone access if asked, then verify the call connects.
Try a call inside Zinley starts a test call; it does not assign the physical button. The Action Button settings row is shown only on supported iPhones. Android and iPad do not use this setup.
Use Siri or Back Tap
For Siri, say “Hey Siri, call Zinley” when the action is available on your installed build. If Siri does not find it, open Zinley once and check that Call Zinley is available in Shortcuts.
For Back Tap:
- Open Apple's Shortcuts app.
- Create and save a shortcut using Zinley's Call Zinley action.
- Open iPhone Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap.
- Choose Double Tap or Triple Tap, then select the saved shortcut.
- Try the gesture and confirm it reaches your agent.
A shortcut opens Zinley; microphone capture starts when the app can become active. A locked phone or system permission prompt may require your action. If a call is already running, the shortcut returns to it instead of deliberately starting a second call.
Run an existing iOS Shortcut from a request
You can ask Zinley to launch a saved iOS Shortcut by its exact name. Review the shortcut's own actions first, especially if it sends information or changes something.
“Run my shortcut named Travel Checklist.”
A successful launch means the shortcut was triggered. Its output is not automatically returned to the agent. Check the Shortcuts app or the destination app for the actual result. This capability is iOS-only; Android does not use Apple's Shortcuts app.
Set up voice in the car
Open Settings → This device → In the car. The page shows CarPlay on iPhone or Android Auto on Android, plus the connection and microphone state. Open Car setup for the instructions that match the phone.
| Platform | How to start |
|---|---|
| iPhone with supported CarPlay | Connect the iPhone to the compatible car, then open Zinley on the car screen when the installed build and iOS version support it. |
| Android Auto | Connect to Android Auto. While parked, start the call on the phone; use the car's call controls to mute or end it. |
| Not connected or car controls unavailable | Use Try on this phone to check ordinary phone voice first. |
A compatible car and internet connection are required. The screen may report that car controls are unavailable in the installed version or that a newer iOS version is required. Follow that message rather than assuming a connection guarantees support.
Fix a shortcut or car call
| Problem | Next step |
|---|---|
| The physical button opens something else | Check the assignment in the iPhone Settings app. Try a call does not change it. |
| The call opens but cannot hear you | Use Allow microphone or Open phone settings as shown, then retry. |
| An existing call is active | Choose Return to your conversation, then end it before starting a separate one. |
| The car connection says unknown or disconnected | Check the phone-to-car connection and try voice on the phone first. |
| The shortcut launched but no result appears in Chat | Inspect the shortcut's destination; its output is not automatically sent back. |
Use Voice, dictation, and camera for the in-call controls and Mobile settings and permissions for notification and permission recovery.
