Health sharing, family, and privacy
Health has three different kinds of sharing: a phone sends data to your account, a family profile keeps a person's data separate, and a share card publishes only a selected result. Check which one you are changing before you continue.
Keep family profiles separate
- Open Settings → Health → People and phones.
- Review each person's name and the phones listed under that person.
- On the phone that holds the data, turn on Health sharing and choose whose Health it is. Use Add someone in your family when offered, or choose an existing person.
- If a phone is assigned incorrectly, open its person or phone row and use Whose Health? to correct the assignment.
- Return to Action Center → Health and choose that person's profile to review their read and records.
A family profile identifies whose measurements are being read. It does not automatically create an independent family login or grant another person access to everything in your account. Set up another person's health sharing only with their permission, and check the person label before adding context or taking an action.
Where offered, Let me know if their day looks unusual enables family heads-ups. The app explains if Care watch must be enabled first. The profile selector also makes clear whether you are reading your own day or someone else's.
Share a win or a general fact
A Health card may offer Share for a win, streak, completed goal, weekly result, or general fact. Open it and inspect the card before choosing a destination.
| Share control | What happens |
|---|---|
| Copy image | Copies the rendered card when supported |
| Save image / mobile Save to Photos | Saves or downloads the card image when the platform supports it |
| Copy link | Creates or copies a public link to that selected card |
| Share… / Share to… | Opens the available system or destination sharing options |
| Stop sharing | Turns off the link controlled by that share panel |
On mobile, Save to Photos appears only when image capture is available. If photo access is off, use Open Settings from the error to change the phone permission, then return and retry. A copied link and a saved image are separate results.
Only share a card whose visible information you are comfortable making public. A card can contain your selected step count, sleep or activity result, streak, dates, goal, or chart. “Only what's on the card is shared” does not mean the card contains no personal information.
Public Health links are limited to eligible cards for your own profile. Family-member cards and private medical details are not intended for public sharing. A card the service refuses cannot be made public by retrying with a different label. Use a private, appropriate channel for discussing medical information with someone you trust.
Anyone who receives a public link can forward it. Stop sharing prevents subsequent access through that link, but cannot recall images, screenshots, copied text, or previews another app has already saved. Revoking a link does not delete an image you saved to your phone or computer.
Export your information
Open Settings → Health → Advanced settings → Your data → Export my Health data. Wait for the download or system share screen, then save the file somewhere you control. An export contains more than a public share card, so inspect it before sending it to anyone.
If export fails or a limit is shown, wait and retry. Do not assume a file was created until the app reports a download or shows the saved file. You can use the export to keep your own records or prepare a conversation with a clinician.
Stop a phone or remove stored data
| Action | Scope |
|---|---|
| Stop sharing from this phone | Turns off this phone's Health sharing and removes the Health data it shared with Zinley; the phone's source data stays |
| Remove a phone in People and phones | Removes that phone's shared data; sharing must be enabled again on that phone to reconnect |
| Stop sharing a family member's Health | Removes that person's sharing according to the confirmation shown |
| Delete stored cycle data | Deletes cycle data Zinley stored; turn off Cycle tracking on the phone to stop new cycle data arriving |
| Delete all Health data | Removes Health's stored data, reads, goals, profiles, logs, and settings for you and your family, and stops sharing from every phone |
Read the confirmation before deleting. Delete all Health data is irreversible. It does not erase the original Apple Health or Health Connect records on your phones. Health share links associated with deleted data are also removed, but previously saved external copies cannot be recalled.
Review access after a change
After disconnecting or deleting, reopen People and phones and check the result on each relevant device. If the phone is offline or a deletion is still pending, let the app finish online before enabling sharing again. To resume later, explicitly reconnect the intended phones and recheck whose data they share.
To take a break without deleting anything, use Pause Health. For missing data or permissions, follow the phone setup checks.
