Scheduled tasks
Ask Zinley to run a job at a specific time or on a repeating schedule.
Create a task
State the work, schedule, timezone, and destination for the result:
“Every weekday at 5pm Pacific, summarize what arrived today and email me the result.”
Zinley confirms the schedule in plain language before saving it. You can schedule one-time, daily, weekday, weekend, weekly, or monthly work.
Scheduled runs have no AI model button. When the schedule starts a job, it uses Configure → Speed & Model → Default model. The AI model you used to create the task in direct Chat controls only that instruction message, not every future scheduled run. See Choose the right AI model setting.
Say where the run may happen
The task editor does not permanently bind a new task to a Cloud/Device switch. When the schedule fires, Zinley chooses an execution surface from what is available.
- For reminders, research, or connected services, no device needs to be named.
- For local files, apps, or tools, put the exact device name in the saved instruction. Add “do not substitute another device” when location is part of the boundary.
- On Plus or higher, name Zinley's Computer when the work should run in its separate cloud workspace.
Name the device when location matters: “On my Work MacBook only, package the report folder every Friday at 6pm. Do not run this on another device.”
If a device task cannot reach its target, review the failure notice and device status before assuming the work completed.
Review and change tasks
Open Work → Tasks to see the instruction, schedule, status, and next run. You can also ask:
- “What tasks are scheduled?”
- “Change the weekday summary to 6pm Pacific.”
- “Cancel the Friday report.”
When editing, restate the complete desired schedule so there is no ambiguity.
Results return to the related conversation. Work that needs a decision can also appear in Home, the related Topic, and the Brief.
The live plan comparison shows the current active-task limit. If you reach it, remove an unused task or review Plan limits.
