Devices Overview
Zinley runs in the cloud, 24/7 — and it can also act directly on your own computers and phones. This page explains that split, and how to manage the devices Zinley is allowed to reach.
Zinley is always on — no device required
Your agent lives in the cloud. It keeps working with every one of your devices switched off:
- Email — messages to your Zinley address get read and answered.
- Phone — your Zinley number keeps taking and making calls.
- Telegram and Discord — your bot keeps replying.
- Scheduled tasks and workflows — they fire on time, whether or not you're around.
Close your laptop, put your phone away, go on holiday — Zinley keeps running.
Connected devices are Zinley's hands
Cloud is where Zinley thinks. Connected devices are where it can touch things. Once a device is linked, Zinley can work on that machine directly:
- Files and terminal — read, write, and run things on your computer.
- Control the machine — click through apps, drive a browser, fill in forms.
- Use what's on the device — contacts, reminders, photos, camera, clipboard, notifications, location and maps, the on-device calendar.
That's the whole idea: cloud for reach, your devices for hands. See What you can do across devices for the full tour.
No device of your own? You still get one. On Plus and above, Zinley comes with Zinley's Computer — an always-on cloud machine it can work on without any of your hardware being awake.
Your device list
Open Configure → Devices. The Connected devices header shows how many are linked — e.g. ● 3 devices.
Each connected device is a row:
- Name — the device's name (e.g. My iPhone, Nghiem's MacBook Pro). Devices name themselves when they register; rename them to something you'll recognise.
- Last seen — when Zinley last heard from it (e.g. Last seen: 7/21/2026). A device that has the app running checks in about once a minute, so a fresh timestamp means online.
- Cross-device — the toggle described below.
- Edit (✎) — rename the device.
- Delete (🗑) — remove it from the list.
New account? Until a device connects you'll see "No devices found." — go to Connect a device. You can also reach this list from Settings → Connected devices.
The cross-device toggle
Every device has its own switch that decides whether Zinley — and your other devices — may reach it:
- On — Zinley can travel here. Other devices can hand work to this one, target it by name, or view its screen.
- Off — this device becomes invisible to your other devices and to Zinley's remote actions. You still use the device normally, and Zinley still works on it when you're sitting in front of it — it just can't be reached from elsewhere.
Turn it off for a work laptop you don't want touched from your phone, or for a machine you're lending to someone.
Renaming, removing, and stale devices
- Rename — click ✎ and give it a clear name. Names matter: you can say "on my MacBook, …" in chat and Zinley will run the task there.
- Delete — removes the device from the list. If the app is still installed and signed in, the device will simply register itself again next time it starts.
- Auto-cleanup — a device that hasn't checked in for 30 days stops appearing in your lists automatically. Nothing to clean up by hand.
